About Alex
Alex was raised in Germany by two multi-national parents who were/are passionate about health and wellness. Frequent visits to her grandparent’s farm in the UK sparked a love for animals and nature and an understanding of nutritious wholefoods.
Meditation, surfing, and a healthy lifestyle are a part of Alex’s routine. Alex values connection to the earth, to source energy, and to community. While Alex was graduating with a degree in Applied Psychology in the UK, she worked as a Student Mentor with at-risk youths. After graduating in 2007, Alex worked as a Research Assistant for the
Psychology Department at the University of Exeter, collecting information about the impact of Reminiscence Therapy on elderly people with Dementia, and the relationship of Depression.
Alex has traveled extensively and has been involved in several projects whilst abroad before eventually settling in Australia. Alex spent considerable time in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami in 2005 working in an Orphanage for disabled and abandoned children. She was also involved in rebuilding homes and businesses for local people in Sri Lanka and worked in a refugee camp engaging children in psycho-social play. It was during this time spent in Sri Lanka, that she met the man who is now her husband, and father of two children.

During her travels abroad, and her time living in Noosa, Alex supported Olympic Triathletes, sharing a passion for fitness, nutrition, and health bio-hacks. Alex has an interest in improving performance on every level, physically, psychologically, and when invited, spiritually.

"Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,” and others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.”But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed." Kahlil Gibran 1883- 1931
Working with Alex
Alex’s travels, professional background, and life experiences enable her to connect with her clients in a genuine and approachable way. Alex aims to identify clear goals at the start and throughout the therapeutic process. No matter the presentation, the overall aim for people is to live a more connected life, and Alex can assist in offering different strategies to help to achieve this. Alex is trained in a broad range of therapeutic approaches and draws on each modality to suit a person’s individual needs. Alex primarily basis her interventions on mindfulness-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Interpersonal Neurobiology.
Alex specialises in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) while combining this therapy with an Internal Family systems approach for the recovery of trauma. Alex is a licensed Circle of Security Parent Educator and assists families to feel more connected with each other.

Alex’s interest area is in identifying the attachment needs of people, and for adults with attachment trauma, to succeed in re-parenting themselves. A crisis or challenge is so often an opportunity for change. The part that makes it difficult for clients is the distress that is experienced. As a society, distress is often seen as an unwanted, abnormal, intolerable, or symptomatic state. However, distress, when accepted and confronted,
can bring about necessary insights for learning and growth.
Seeing a psychologist is a courageous step in self-care and Alex admires her clients for connecting with their own vulnerability to seek help. Alex has a special interest in working with people to provide empowering information, integrated evidence-based care, and a focus on the therapeutic relationship as mitigating stress and initiating positive change.
